Lion and a monkey

Once upon a time, there lived a large and fearsome lion in a dense and large forest. Every animal in that forest use to fear him and would never dare to cross his path.

He was living proudly and happily as no one was there to challenge him and make him go down on his knees. This selfish attitude made him overhunt and he started hunting for fun. He use to hunt for animals even when he was not feeling hungry.

This leads to an imbalance of nature and the biosphere of that forest which in turn leads to scarcity of food for the lion. Due to which he had no choice but to leave that forest and find a new place to settle where there is no shortage of food and he can once again live happily.

After a few days of travel, he found a forest where he can see many animals. He rested assured that he can live here and there will be no shortage of food for him.

This forest was near a developed town and whenever any person or stranger use to come into that forest, a monkey used to start making loud noises which in turn would alert the animals of that forest and they would run to safety. This act of monkey protected the biodiversity of that forest and it was growing in area and animals were living peacefully in that forest without human intervention.

For a few months, the lion hunted only when he was feeling hungry, but after that, he again started hunting for pleasure. The monkey in that forest was wise enough to judge the lion and saw that this act of the lion will destroy the forest.

So he asked the proud lion to stop hunting for pleasure as one day this will lead to the destruction of the forest and its biodiversity and just hunt whenever you feel hungry. But the proud lion thought that the monkey was only jealous of him and didn't properly take his words.

So now whenever the lion use goes hunting the monkey used to make loud noises as if any human intervention is there in the forest and animals would run back to safety. This made every hunt of a lion a failure.

As the lion didn't get any food for a few days, he thought of making peace with the monkey and invited him to his den as he wanted to personally apologize to him and didn't want any other animals to see him at this stage. The monkey hesitated for some time but agreed as he was kind-hearted and thought that if this will lead to the protection of the biodiversity of the forest, this risk is worth it.

When the monkey came to meet the lion, the proud and selfish lion killed him in his den. He never thought of apologizing and all he wanted was to kill that monkey and again build his fearsome and proud status in the jungle.

After a few days of this incident, a large-scale human intervention started in the forest as there was no monkey to alert the animals. One fine day when the proud lion was roaming fearlessly in the jungle, he was caught in one of the traps that were laid by one of the town poachers and was caged and taken to the town and then exported to bigger cities where he spent the rest of his life.

Moral: Mother nature has made everyone according to its role on this planet. We should never be proud of our strength and instead, use it to help others. Otherwise, your act of selfishness will harm you in one way or the other.
